You should definitely see Star Wars Episode III. It's great!!
Recent audiences are harder to please. They're overfed with amazing CGI and SFX that Star Wars isn't just new anymore...and many people are dissatisfied with George Lucas's script and directing. I again, think people are just complaining too much and that the new trilogy is as good.
And if your friend haven't seen any yet, I recommend for him to see the original trilogy (EP IV, V, and VI) first. The newer ones are the prequels, so essentially, it's the story of how events lead to the old trilogy. Better worded yet, NEVER watch it in this order: I, II, III then IV, V, VI...watch IV, V, VI, then I, II, III. It just works better that way.
